Towards Using Human Performance Moderator Functions in Human-Robot Teams

Human-Robot peer-based teams are evolving from a far-off possibility into a tangible reality. Human Performance Moderator Functions can be used to predict human behavior by incorporating the effects of internal and external influences, such as fatigue and workload. The applicability of human performance moderator functions to human-robot teams is not proven; however, the presented research demonstrates the applicability of a workload human performance moderator function to a human-robot reconnaissance team. The research models the performance function for both human-human and humanrobot teams, empirically validates the model, and creates a simulation for allocating tasks to human and robot teammates.
